Superhero fighting for family justice

>Stafford Chronicle 15th May 2009

A Stafford woman who founded a family justice campaign group has dressed up as a superhero to post 2 nappies to prime minister Gordon brown. The woman who wishes only to be named as super girl founded the family justice groups united in February and is also a member of Fathers for Justice.
It already has more than 250 members which includes some from the Fathers 4 Justice. She intends to send her poignant packages to make the government ” sit up and think more about parents “Supergirl hopes the prime minister will take notice of members campaign to fight for the rights of fathers and grandparents denied access to children. She is taking part in a nationwide campaign, wearing the superheroes costume to ask Gordon Brown to stop disposing of dads in society.

Supergirl said ” I don’t need superpowers to see what family courts are doing to decent parents. It is time this government stopped acting like children and realised we are sitting on a time bomb. Society is in breakdown and fathers should have a right to contact with their children. We need to send messages that they will listen to and we are
fighting for a change”

” Hopefully when Mr. brown receives our parcel it will remind him to sit up and think more about the rights of parents “

Nappy fear for giant

>The famously naked Cerne Giant may be in for a partial cover-up this weekend as members of Fathers4Justice continue their campaign.

The organisation, which campaigns for the rights of fathers denied access to their children, refuses to deny rumours that it intends to put a giant nappy on the Giant and another on the giant willow man beside the M5 near Bridgwater.
A spokesman said he could not comment “for operational reasons” and added: “We have looked at several targets including hanging a 35ft nappy from the Clifton Suspension Bridge or Stonehenge.”

Several members have also posted nappies to Prime Minister Gordon Brown.
The organisation says: “It’s time this Government stopped acting like children, realised that we are sitting on a time bomb. Society is in breakdown and fathers should have a right to have contact with their children.”

Superhero campaigner sends nappies to PM

>A FATHERS for Justice campaigner near Bridgwater is kicking up a stink – by posting nappies to Prime Minister Gordon Brown.

The masked messenger from West Huntspill – who is refusing to reveal his real identity – has dressed up as film superhero Mr Incredible to send the special deliveries to the PM.

And the group even suggested they might go one step further and put a nappy on Bridgwater’s landmark willow man structure, next to the M5 motorway.

The new member of Fathers for Justice, a group which uses direct and often controversial action to promote its cause, hopes Gordon Brown will take notice of members’ campaign to fight for the rights of fathers denied access to their children.

He told the Mercury: “It’s incredible that the family court system justify doing this to loving dads. “It is time this Government stopped acting like children and realized that we are sitting on a time bomb. Society is in breakdown and fathers should have a right to contact with their children.

“We need to send messages that they will listen to and we are fighting for change.”

Mr Incredible from West Huntspill has joined Spiderman in Clevedon and Batman in Sussex to send the diapers in a nationwide campaign, to symbolise the way, campaigners say, dads are “disposed of” in society.

He urged all dads and grandparents to take part in this nationwide campaign to tell Mr Brown that fathers across the country will not let the Government destroy fatherhood.

A press spokesman for Number 10 refused to comment on whether Gordon Brown had received the nappies

A HEATHFIELD man dressed up as Batman to post nappies to Gordon Brown.
The New Fathers for Justice member who did not want to be named, hopes the prime minister will take notice of members’ campaign to fight for the rights of fathers denied access to their children.

He took part in a nationwide campaign in the form of the superhero to ask him to stop disposing of dads in society.

Our photographer caught up with the anonymous Batman figure near the village.

He said: ‘It’s time this Government stopped acting like children, realised that we are sitting on a time bomb and society is in breakdown and that fathers have a right to contact with their children.’

‘We need to send messages they will listen to and we are fighting for change.’

And he urges all dads and grandparents to take part in this nationwide campaign to tell Mr Brown how the Government has messed up families.

Father arrested after chaos threat

A DEVON fathers’ rights activist has been arrested after he threatened to bring chaos to two major organisations.

Richard West was taken into custody after police raided his Ottery St Mary home.

Officers seized his Mr Incredible stunt costume along with other items used in his Fathers 4 Justice protests.

The 42-year-old was taken to Heavitree Road police station before being transferred to a police station in Reigate, Surrey.

Police in Surrey said Mr West — who recently scaled a 50ft mast on the outskirts of Exeter in a protest — had been arrested in connection with making threats to cause criminal damage.

Mr West is believed to have issued the threats to the NHS and social services after they refused to disclose medical case notes.

Fellow Fathers 4 Justice activist Jolly Stanesby said: “I spoke to Richard before he went into custody in Reigate. We don’t know how long he will be held or whether he will be charged.

“He issued an ultimatum to social services and told them that they had until the end of the month to give him the records, which he is legally allowed to see as he has a court order allowing him access to them, but they have still refused.

“He told them he would stage a protest if they did not comply.

“The police arrested him after raiding his house. They took his protest costume and some other irrelevant items. We believe he had no other option than to do something about the fact he is being refused access to these medical notes.”

Police in Exeter arrested Mr West at around 8pm on Wednesday. He was being quizzed by officers at Reigate station yesterday.

Police there say they are investigating threats to cause criminal damage but would not confirm where the threats related to.

A spokesman for Surrey police confirmed the arrest had been made.

They said: “A 42-year-old man from the Exeter area was arrested by Devon and Cornwall officers in connection with a Surrey police investigation into threats to cause criminal damage.

“The man was brought to a Surrey police station and Surrey police are continuing with the investigation.
