Yes Mr Cameron For the Sake of Fatherhood New Fathers 4 Justice activists did climb on your Witney office roof

3rd August 2010

New Fathers 4 Justice protesters dressed as superheroes and scaled the roof of PM David Cameron’s constituency office yesterday. Roger Crawford, 61, Jeremy Pogue and Archit Ssan, both 49, pretended to be a court jester, Superman and The Incredible Hulk. They took supplies of water, pies, pasties, chocolate and beer.

The group unfurled a banner which read: “Give Dads Equality.” They plan to stay on top of the building in Witney, Oxfordshire, for several days.

Supporters, some also dressed as superheroes cheered from the ground. One wore a David Cameron mask. Mr Cameron was not in his constituency at the time.

The protesters are from New Fathers 4 Justice which was formed when the original group was disbanded in 2008.

David Cameron “I’m sorry” for dads roof protest remark

Cameron Apology

In a statement tonight in the Evening Standard, David Cameron said, “I’m sorry for any offence to them that may have been caused by what was a light-hearted remark.”

In December, father-of-two Bobby Smith was handed a harassment order by police after spending a week camped outside Mr Cameron’s home.

He said Mr Cameron’s words were a “smear” on the campaign for equal custody for fathers.

Mr Smith, 53, from Waltham Cross in Hertfordshire, who has had no access to his children for the past four years said: “He’s making us look like animals for saying we’ve climbed all over his roof. Police live in the house opposite and they come out with machine guns if you go anywhere near it. It’s impossible. You couldn’t get on his roof.”

Terry Vooght, 49, from Harrow, who has no custody of his children after splitting from his wife in 2012, said: “Yes we protested outside his house and we were there all over Christmas, but we didn’t climb on his roof.”

Protesters threaten to disrupt Cameron’s election campaign

CAMPAIGNERS are threatening a major protest campaign targeting Prime Minister David Cameron in the run up to the General Election.

Bobby Smith Dean

New Fathers 4 Justice says it will try to disrupt Mr Cameron’s election campaign in his Witney constituency.

The threat comes after the Prime Minister claimed that protesters have damaged his constituency home in Dean by “clambering all over my roof”.

His property has been targeted by New Fathers 4 Justice, Fathers for Justice as well as Greenpeace, which set up a mock drilling site outside the house in protest at fracking.

And in an interview with the Evening Standard, the Witney MP said the demos had taken a toll: “The tiles are falling off, the window frames are rotten but I am happy there, we all are. I am a country boy at heart.”

Fathers for Justice and New Fathers 4 Justice have both staged protests outside Mr Cameron’s home and have also climbed onto the roof of his constituency office in High Street, Witney on several occasions. But New Fathers 4 Justice insisted they have never tried to get onto the roof of his house.

In December, father-of-two Bobby Smith was handed a harassment order by police after spending a week camped outside Mr Cameron’s home.

New Fathers 4 Justice is behind the planned campaign in Witney in the fortnight before the election.

They intend to camp out on The Leys in Witney and attend Mr Cameron’s photocalls and election hustings, claiming he has reneged on promises.

In the interview Mr Cameron said he was happiest in his Witney constituency. He told them: “We bought [our house] in 2001, it is falling apart because of Fathers for Justice clambering over my roof. The tiles are falling off, the window frames are rotten but I am happy there, we all are.”

David Cameron has claimed his Oxfordshire home is “falling apart” because of damage caused by protesters climbing on its roof.

Mr Cameron bought the property in his Witney constituency in 2001 and has seen it repeatedly been targeted by protesters since becoming Prime Minister.

“It is falling apart because of Fathers for Justice clambering over my roof,” he told the Evening Standard.

“The tiles are falling off, the window frames are rotten but I am happy there, we all are. I am a country boy at heart,” he said.

Campaign groups Fathers for Justice and New Fathers 4 Justice have both staged protests outside the Cameron’s home in Dean

New Fathers 4 Justice were issued with a harassment order to move away from the property at the end of December after spending at least a week camped outside.

One of the campaigners claimed at the time that Mr Cameron had told them: “Not you again. You’re spoiling my Christmas.”

Gloria returns to help women

THE Shadow Minister for Women and Equalities Gloria De Piero was back in her home city to discuss women’s needs yesterday.

Gloria De Piero visited the Millan Centre in Manningham to meet women and talk about their issues.

She arrived in the city in a pink bus and was heckled by a  Fathers 4 Children campaigner. He raised questions about the disparity in court decisions over child access which favoured mothers over fathers.

Miss De Piero was joined by Labour’s Bradford West election candidate Naz Shah.

Mrs Shah said: “There are a plethora of issues affecting women, including education, unemployment and women engaging with services and being more included in decision making.”

The venue was apt as the Millan Centre has a client base made up largely of women and girls who attend to learn new skills and advance their societal position.

The MP said: “In 2010 there were no women unemployed in Bradford West and we need to get that back under control.”

Labour offered other policies including child care and clubs for children outside school hours, she said.

Labour’s big pink battle bus rocks up in Bradford

Well done Fathers4Children (F4C)

It has been a source of controversy since the day it was first wheeled out and today Labour’s big pink battle bus arrived in Bradford.

The party’s Shadow Minister for Women and Equalities was there to support the local candidate Naz Shah.

She took the post after the former candidate dropped out just a few days after being selected, leading to accusations of ‘dirty politics’ from opponents.

Can you Parallel Park Harriet Harman’s Pink Bus?

It’s the fun new gender-neutral game for all the family! –

It would be more realistic if we had to park the bus in on double yellow lines or a disabled space like the real pink bus
