New Fathers 4 Justice Batman banned from voting in the Labour leadership campaign

New Fathers 4 Justice ‘Batman’ has been banned from voting in the Labour leadership election. Despite registering as a supporter under the name Batdad’ some time ago he received an email this morning which stated

‘We have reason to believe that you do not support the aims and values of the Labour Party or you are a supporter of an organisation opposed to the Labour Party and therefore we are rejecting your application.’

Whilst the labour party argue about who can vote or not the truly shocking story is that teenagers are more likely to have a mobile phone than a father.”

In the lead up to the leadership election we are not going to let the Labour Party ignore what’s happening in the secret family courts”

We targeted Harriet Harman’s ‘pink bus’ across the country during the election campaign and confronted her in Stevenage, Croydon, Cambridge, Bedford and Gloucester but the Labour Party still ignored the issue of equality for fathers after family breakdown during the election campaign.

The Labour party are not used to having people oppose them vocally.

Rejection Email

For the Labour Party it is equality when it suits and not for all. Men deserve more equality after family breakdown as much as women do in the workplace.

In 2005 when Harriet Harman, QC, then Minister for Constitutional Affairs announced  proposals to throw the family courts open so that thousands of hearings, from divorce wrangles over money to contact with children, would no longer be conducted behind closed doors in secret but they did NOTHING!

Campaigners were removed by police from Woolwich Arsenal DLR station after protesting against a domestic violence poster labelled “utterly offensive to men”.

Fathers rights campaign group New Fathers 4 Justice had threatened “guerilla-style protests” at train stations displaying the poster carrying a slogan “Dads, have the strength to change”.

Put up by Greenwich Council as part of its campaign to combat domestic violence, the group has described the poster as “utterly offensive, sexist and discriminatory”.

The council has defended the poster pointing out it is part of a wider campaign with a variety of slogans and images used over the last year.

On Wednesday, New Fathers 4 Justice members Terry Vooght and Bobby Smith stuck stickers and banners over the posters at Woolwich Arsenal DLR station including an A4 sticker reading “Please let me see my dad”.

Within minutes, police were called.

Mr Smith, from Stevenage, said: “We decided to come and cover the poster.

“Transport for London and the Met Police were not happy.

“There was mayhem at Woolwich station.

“Four police cars and six police turned up to throw us out because we covered that sexist poster up.

“Our version was better.”

A New Fathers for Justice spokesman said: “We have made a complaint to the council, Advertising Standards Authority and Transport for London, who are displaying these posters at Woolwich Arsenal DLR train station.

“Guerrilla-style protests will be targeted at premises that continue to display these posters.

“The ManKind Initiative, a national charity that provides help and support for male victims of domestic abuse and domestic violence, has said that 40 per cent of domestic violence is against men in the UK.

A Greenwich Council spokesperson said the authority welcomed the debate and discussion about its campaign.

The spokesperson said: “The council agrees that domestic violence is utterly unacceptable regardless of who is causing it.

“We also recognise that the overwhelming majority of men are good fathers and role models to their children and this campaign is not meant to detract from that.

“This is our third set of posters designed to help victims – both men and women – to come forward and seek help and they also show the impact it can have on young children.

“This single poster was developed as a result of evidence which shows that fathers who are abusive to their partners are more likely seek help to change their behaviour if they are made to face up to the damaging effects their behaviour has on their children.”

New Fathers 4 Justice activists are delighted that Transport For London have decided to cover over offensive words on Greenwich Councils domestic violence poster at Woolwich train station.

The words “Dads, have the strength to change” have been covered up by official TFL paper.

Well done TFL for taking action against this campaign which is utterly offensive to fathers, sexist and discriminatory.

Wednesday two New Fathers 4 Justice activists were removed from Greenwich Arsenal train station by Met Police officers, after holding a protest against “Dads, have the strength to change” domestic violence campaign.

Graffiti demanding justice for a late fathers’ rights campaigner is being treated as criminal damage.

The message, scrawled on a fence next to the A602 in Stevenage, refers to a Haydn Burton – lately of the campaign group New Fathers 4 Justice.

Mr Burton was found dead in Winchester Prison last month.

A police spokesman said the graffiti was being treated as criminal damage and was the subject of an investigation.
A similar message was spotted on a banner alongside the A1(M) between Junction 7 and 8, but is not being probed by police.

Bobby Smith, a New Fathers 4 Justice activist who lives in the town, denied responsibility for the messages but said he supported them.

Mr Smith has confronted prominent politicians about fathers’ rights on a number of occasions and ran against David Cameron in his Witney constituency in the General Election.

He said: “I can’t take credit for the banners as they were done by another activist who lives in Stevenage. Of course, I fully support it and will most likely be doing similar soon.

“I met Haydn around a year ago at a protest in Central London. He had not seen his daughter for a long time.

“He asked my advice on how to protest, so I told him. He was a great protester and would campaign daily in his home town under the New Fathers 4 Justice banner while dressed as Superman.”

New Fathers 4 Justice confirmed local activists were visited by police on Wednesday afternoon.

Two members of New Fathers 4 Justice, dressed as Mickey and Minnie Mouse, apparently sought to scale the front of the building using a ladder but fled after being “disturbed”, a spokesman for the protest group said.

“Life is like one big Dismaland for fathers denied access to their children going through the family court system,” said father Pete Moore.

“We will attempt another protest at the site shortly.

“We thought Banksy would like the irony of this protest.”

The new exhibit, which launched today, has been set up at the derelict Tropicana leisure facility at the seaside town. Protesters claim to have mounted their abortive demonstration shortly before 7am this morning.

The artist said: “I loved the Tropicana as a kid, so getting to throw these doors open again is a real honour.

“I hope everyone from Weston will take the opportunity to once more stand in a puddle of murky water eating cold chips to the sound of crying children.

New Fathers 4 Justice activists have already tried to scale the side of Banksy’s latest project in Dismaland in Weston-super-Mare.

Two activists from New Fathers 4 Justice attempted to climb the side of the derelict Tropicana, dressed as Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse.

They were disturbed at 6.45am on Thursday whilst climbing the front on the building using a ladder with a banner which said: “For dads life is not always a fairy tale”.

Pete Moore, from Bridgwater, said: “Life is like one big Dismaland for fathers denied access to their children going through the family court system. We will attempt another protest at the site shortly.

Banksy Dismaland exhibit targeted in protest attempt

WITHIN hours of Banksy’s Dismaland exhibit being unveiled to the public, the Weston-super-Mare site has already been subject to an impromptu protest from a fathers’ rights group.

New Fathers 4 Justice Dismaland

Two New Fathers 4 Justice members attempted to scale the front wall of the Tropicana, which has been used to house the exhibit already attracting the world’s attention, but were ‘disturbed’ as they attempted to unveil a banner in a similar style to the dystopian Disneyland setting at around 6.45am.

The pair made off before police were called, but a group spokesman has said further protests are planned.

They made their attempt dressed as ‘Taking the Mickey Mouse’ and Minnie, while carrying a banner inscribed with the caption ‘For dads, life is not always a fairy tale’.

A spokesman for the group said: “Life is like one big Dismaland for fathers denied access to their children going through the family court system. We will attempt another protest at the site shortly. We thought Banksy would like the irony of the protest.”
